TiO2 supplier for India
India is one of the world's fastest-growing TiO2 markets — driven by paint demand, PVC infrastructure, and a developing decor paper industry.
Market context
India consumed approximately 280,000 tons of titanium dioxide in 2025, growing at 7–9% annually — faster than any other large national market. The growth is driven by three factors: (1) architectural paint expansion as urbanization and per-capita income drive repaint cycles, (2) PVC infrastructure buildout for water/sewage pipe and window frame, and (3) a developing domestic decor paper industry serving the booming furniture and modular kitchen sectors.
India has limited domestic TiO2 production — Travancore Titanium Products (Kerala) and Kerala Minerals & Metals (KMML) produce sulfate-process TiO2 at small scale. Total domestic capacity is under 50,000 t/year, well below the ~280,000 t demand. The gap is filled by imports — primarily from China (60%+), with smaller volumes from Vietnam, Russia, and occasionally Europe.
Buyer profile
Recommended SEMITI grades for India
Our flagship chloride-process rutile — high tinting strength and broad compatibility for coatings, plastics, and inks.
Universal coatings-grade rutile — the global reference for waterborne and solventborne paints.
Universal plastics rutile — direct alternative to Kronos 2310 for PVC, PE, PP, ABS.
Cost-optimized sulfate-process rutile — 25% cheaper than chloride for non-critical applications.
Ink-grade rutile engineered for fast bead-mill dispersion and screen anti-blinding.
Logistics
FOB Qingdao or Shanghai → JNPT (Mumbai) or Mundra (Gujarat) is the primary trade lane: 18–25 days ocean transit. Chennai and Kolkata routes add 2–4 days. Container preference is 20' FCL (18–20 t TiO2). LCL available for sample shipments up to 500 kg via consolidator. Trans-shipment options through Singapore or Colombo are available but typically not preferred — direct China–India routes are well-established with weekly sailings on major carriers (Maersk, MSC, CMA CGM, ONE).
Regulations & import
India does not impose anti-dumping duty on Chinese TiO2 (as of 2025). Import duty is approximately 7.5% (HS 3206.11.00) plus 18% GST. BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) does not currently require certification for industrial-grade TiO2. For food-contact applications (food packaging plastics), FSSAI compliance is required — we provide migration testing documentation on request.
