SEMITI 902
Universal coatings-grade rutile — the global reference for waterborne and solventborne paints.
SEMITI 902 is a universal coatings-grade chloride-process rutile, matched against Chemours Ti-Pure R-902 — historically the most widely-formulated TiO2 grade in global paint manufacturing. If your formulation has been qualified on R-902, SEMITI 902 is the direct drop-in replacement.
The grade is balanced for cost-performance in the mid-tier coatings segment: high enough tinting strength to meet brand-name paint specifications, broad enough surface treatment compatibility to work in both waterborne and solventborne systems, and stable enough thermal behavior to survive standard pigment-dispersion processing without specialty handling.
SEMITI 902 is one of our two highest-volume grades (the other being SEMITI 996 for plastics-focused buyers). We hold dedicated safety stock at Shanghai and Qingdao warehouses for major buyer ports, with typical 5–7 day production-to-ship turnaround.
Why customers pick SEMITI 902
- 01Direct Ti-Pure R-902 alternative — qualified in thousands of paint formulations globally
- 02Broad binder compatibility — acrylic emulsion, alkyd, PU, styrene-acrylic
- 03High tinting strength (≥ 1850 Reynolds) — supports lower TiO2 loading in colored systems
- 04Mid-tier pricing — sweet spot between SEMITI 298 economy and SEMITI 706 premium

vs international reference grades
Comparisons against the international grades most commonly cross-referenced by formulators.
Designed as 1:1 drop-in. In >50 customer A/B trials we've recorded average Δ-CIE-L* < 0.3 and Δ-gloss < 1 unit at 60°. Landed cost in Asia 35–45% lower.
Both universal coatings/plastics grades. SEMITI 902 is more coatings-focused (slightly higher tinting strength); Kronos 2310 has marginal edge in plastics extrusion.
LB R-996 is closer to our SEMITI 996. R-902 specifically (the Ti-Pure equivalent) is closer to our SEMITI 902 — the difference is the surface treatment loading.
