SEMITI A100

Universal Anatase

Universal anatase grade for inks, paper, fiber and rubber — bright white with soft, easily-dispersed crystal.

International equivalents: BA01-01 (Anhui) · Tronox A-HR · Ti-Pure A-100

SEMITI A100 is a universal sulfate-process anatase titanium dioxide. Compared with rutile grades, anatase has softer crystal hardness, higher photocatalytic activity (which limits outdoor coating use but enables specialty applications), and a brighter, bluer undertone — making it the preferred crystal form for white inks, art papers, synthetic fibers, and certain rubber and cosmetic applications.

SEMITI A100 is supplied either uncoated or with minimal inorganic surface treatment, depending on end-use. The grade delivers Hegman 7+ in standard ball-mill or bead-mill dispersion within 60 minutes, with low filter screen blinding and clean rheology in waterborne and solventborne ink vehicles.

For paper makers, SEMITI A100 provides high opacity at 8–12% filler loading without compromising tensile strength. For fiber delustering, dosage at 0.3–0.5% in PET/PA spinning achieves matte hand-feel without breaking fibers at draw ratios up to 4x.

Why customers pick SEMITI A100

  • 01Brighter, bluer undertone than rutile (CIE b* < 1.5) — premium for white art papers and white inks
  • 02Soft crystal — minimal wear on grinding equipment vs rutile
  • 03Easy dispersion — typical Hegman 7+ in <60 min bead-milling
  • 04Low metallic impurity (Pb < 5 ppm, Cd < 1 ppm) — suitable for food-contact paper and pharma packaging
  • 05Sulfate process economics — 25–30% lower cost than chloride-process anatase equivalents

vs international reference grades

Comparisons against the international grades most commonly cross-referenced by formulators.

Anhui Annada
BA01-01

Direct Chinese counterpart. SEMITI A100 has tighter Pb/Cd specification, better suited for export to EU paper buyers.

Tronox
A-HR

Tronox A-HR is chloride-process anatase, premium pricing. SEMITI A100 is sulfate — 35% lower cost — but matches A-HR within 3% on tinting strength for ink and paper end-uses.

Ishihara
TIPAQUE A-100

TIPAQUE A-100 is similarly positioned for fiber and rubber. SEMITI A100 has comparable performance at significantly lower delivered cost into Asian markets.

Packaging & shipping

25 kg paper bag with PE liner; 500 / 1000 kg FIBC. Keep sealed and dry — anatase is moisture-sensitive over long storage. Consume within 12 months.

Common questions

Can I use SEMITI A100 in exterior coatings?+
Not recommended. Anatase has higher photocatalytic activity than rutile — under UV exposure, it generates reactive oxygen species that degrade the polymer binder, leading to chalking. For exterior service, use SEMITI 996 (rutile) or SEMITI 826D (durable rutile).
Is anatase or rutile better for paper?+
For most paper grades, anatase wins on three counts: brighter undertone (CIE b* lower), softer crystal (less wear on slitter blades and press rolls), and lower cost. Rutile is used only when extreme opacity at low loading is required — rare for paper.
Does SEMITI A100 meet pharma packaging requirements?+
Yes for most pharmaceutical secondary packaging (cartons, leaflets, blister card paper). Pb < 5 ppm and Cd < 1 ppm meet USP/EP and most national pharmacopeia limits. Full migration testing report available on inquiry.
What's the difference between SEMITI A100 and A101?+
A100 is universal-grade. A101 is optimized specifically for paper laminate / decor paper — finer particle size for higher opacity at 6–8% loading, slightly higher cost. Use A101 if you're a specialty decor paper mill; A100 covers everything else.
