SEMITI 880 is a premium automotive OEM-grade rutile TiO2, matched against Tronox CR-880. The grade is engineered specifically for automotive top-coat applications where the TiO2 must perform under three concurrent demanding conditions: (1) acid-rain etching resistance, (2) clear-coat / top-coat film cohesion, and (3) tight color reproducibility across body-shop production batches.
For automotive OEM, the TiO2 surface treatment is critical. The premium alumina + silica overcoat with organic stabilizer provides exceptional binder anchoring in acrylic-melamine and acrylic-polyurethane top-coat systems. The tight color spec (Δb* < 0.3 between batches) means that automotive body shops can substitute SEMITI 880 into qualified production batches without re-running full color match panels.
The grade is also widely used in automotive refinish where the formulator is matching a specific OEM color reference and needs predictable batch-to-batch color outcomes.
