SEMITI 826D is a heavy-duty chloride-process rutile engineered for industrial and coil coatings that must perform outdoors for 10+ years without visible chalking, gloss loss, or color shift. It is the direct counterpart to Tronox CR-826, the global reference grade for high-durability outdoor coatings.

The proprietary heavy alumina + silica + organic surface treatment creates a thick, dense inorganic shell around each TiO2 particle. This shell does three things: (1) physically blocks UV-generated reactive oxygen species from migrating to the polymer binder, dramatically reducing chalking; (2) provides exceptional binder compatibility across polyester, PVDF, and fluoropolymer coil coating systems; (3) maintains tight color specification over the life of the coating.

SEMITI 826D is the workhorse grade for residential and architectural cladding coil-coated steel, where 15–20 year warranty paint finishes are standard. It is also widely used in heavy-duty industrial protective coatings for offshore platforms, bridges, and infrastructure.

Common questions

What's the difference between SEMITI 826D and SEMITI 706?+
Both are durable grades. SEMITI 706 is tuned for industrial top-coats and automotive (high gloss, tight color spec). SEMITI 826D is tuned for coil coatings and heavy-duty industrial (maximum chalking resistance, highest possible UV stability). For roofing/cladding, 826D. For automotive refinish, 706.
Can I use 826D in interior architectural paint?+
Yes but it's overkill — the heavy zirconia/silica overcoat is wasted indoors. Use SEMITI 902 or 706W for interior, save the premium for outdoor applications.
Is 826D approved for PVDF coil coating?+
Yes. PVDF systems (Kynar 500, Hylar 5000) require chloride rutile with heavy silica overcoat to prevent fluoropolymer degradation. SEMITI 826D meets all major PVDF coating specs.
