SEMITI 218
Sulfate rutile for low-cost architectural and interior wood coatings.
SEMITI 218 is a sulfate-process rutile specifically tuned for coatings applications — primarily interior architectural paint, interior wood coatings, and economy industrial paint where cost dominates the formulation decision. The alumina + silica surface treatment provides better gloss and dispersion in coatings than the universal-grade SEMITI 298, at a modest cost premium.
Use SEMITI 218 when: (1) you're producing economy-tier paint where chloride-process TiO2 is prohibitively expensive, (2) you need slightly better dispersion than universal sulfate rutile, and (3) the application is interior or short-service exterior (< 3 years).
Why customers pick SEMITI 218
- 01Coatings-tuned sulfate rutile — better gloss than universal SEMITI 298
- 02Alumina + silica surface for cleaner dispersion in paint vehicles
- 03Cost advantage over chloride 706/902 in economy paint tier

vs international reference grades
Comparisons against the international grades most commonly cross-referenced by formulators.
SEMITI 218 has slightly tighter PSD and cleaner gloss in coatings; SEMITI 298 is more universal across coatings + plastics. Choose 218 if your application is coatings-only.
