SEMITI 2160 is a heavy-duty plastics rutile specifically engineered for outdoor PVC applications — primarily window frames, fencing, siding, and exterior trim. It is the direct counterpart to Kronos 2160, the European reference grade for outdoor PVC.

PVC outdoor service is one of the most demanding TiO2 applications. The TiO2 must concurrently: (1) prevent photocatalytic degradation of the PVC polymer (which causes yellowing and brittleness), (2) provide hiding power at low loading (3–5 phr) for cost efficiency, (3) maintain color stability under UV exposure (typical service 10–15 years for window frames), and (4) be compatible with the complex PVC additive package (Ca/Zn stabilizers, impact modifiers, processing aids).

The heavy alumina + zirconia surface treatment of SEMITI 2160 is specifically tuned for PVC. The zirconia layer minimizes photocatalysis; the heavy alumina provides excellent dispersion in calendering and extrusion; and both treatments are compatible with modern Ca/Zn stabilizer chemistries (replacing legacy Pb/Cd stabilizers banned in EU).

What's the minimum dosage for PVC window frame?+
3 phr will give acceptable opacity but may not meet 15-year warranty. 4–6 phr is the typical industrial standard for premium European window frames. Lower dosages may save cost but accelerate visible yellowing at 7–10 year horizon.
Does SEMITI 2160 work with Pb-stabilized PVC?+
Yes but we strongly recommend Ca/Zn or Sn stabilizers. Lead stabilizers are regulated out of most consumer-facing PVC applications in EU, China, and most of Asia. SEMITI 2160 is qualified across all modern PVC stabilizer systems.
