SEMITI works with tier-1 Chinese TiO2 producers operating at modern environmental and labor standards.
Sustainability and ESG considerations are increasingly central to procurement decisions, especially for customers serving EU and US markets where supply chain transparency is regulated or contractually expected.
Supplier environmental standards:
Our primary supplier LB Group operates modern production facilities with current Chinese environmental compliance standards. The chloride-process facilities operate with: - Closed-loop chlorine recycling (chlorine reused in TiCl4 production) - Wastewater treatment to GB 8978 industrial discharge standards - Air emissions control per GB 16297 atmospheric pollution standards - Solid waste recycling (gypsum byproduct to construction materials)
Sulfate-process operations have larger byproduct streams (ferrous sulfate), managed through downstream chemical industry use.
Energy and carbon:
Chinese TiO2 production has historically had higher carbon intensity than Western alternatives due to electricity grid mix. LB Group and other tier-1 producers have invested in renewable energy for facility operations. Multi-year carbon reduction targets aligned with China's national carbon neutrality goals (2060).
Labor and human rights:
LB Group is a publicly-traded company (Shenzhen Stock Exchange) with disclosure obligations under Chinese securities regulations. Operations subject to labor inspections under Chinese labor law. International standards alignment (UN Global Compact, ILO core conventions) is increasingly expected by global customers.
ESG documentation we provide:
For customers requiring ESG documentation: - Supplier self-declaration of compliance with applicable environmental and labor laws - Code of conduct alignment statement - Conflict mineral declaration (not applicable to TiO2 but provided in standard form) - REACH and CLP compliance (regulatory framework, not strictly ESG but related)
Audit support:
For customers conducting supply chain audits: - Coordination with supplier audit visits - ESG questionnaire responses - Documentation collection for SEDEX, EcoVadis, or proprietary buyer ESG platforms
Where we cannot promise:
Chinese TiO2 production operates within Chinese regulatory frameworks. Some customers (particularly those subject to EU CSRD or US SEC disclosure rules) have specific documentation requirements that we work to support. We do not always have the same standardized ESG disclosure depth as multinational chemical companies — we provide what we have transparently.
Customer ESG support:
For customers using SEMITI TiO2 in their own ESG-disclosed products: - TiO2 carbon footprint estimates (based on industry studies, not yet site-specific) - Recycling and end-of-life considerations - Material safety and worker exposure data - Documentation supporting customer's Scope 3 reporting
The ESG framework continues to evolve. We work with customers to provide the documentation they need within our operational scope.
